In 1915, the industrial city of Erie, Pennsylvania experienced a catastrophic flood forever changing the downtown landscape. Mill Creek was manipulated into an underground canal where it remains for over 100 years.

Mill Creek Memorial Park is the culmination of industrial history and first-hand stories that bring the Creek, it’s surrounding community, and that labor and perseverance back to life. Spread across three locations, a toothed stone wall is located directly where the canal is below it. Delicate relationships between the wall, gardens, and visitors to the park create a meaningful connection to the canal and hint at the culture and stories lost in the flood.
