Forrest

Skoolie | Off-Grid Tiny House

Everybody has an unconventional interest in something. From a young age, mine happened to be school buses. During the unfortunate pandemic, I took the opportunity to pause my career goals to reach my dream of building a “Skoolie”and traveling across the United States in a school bus.

Forrest is a 1999 Blue Bird school bus that I converted into a fully off-grid tiny home. Equipped with a full kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, solar, and even a “shed” to keep bikes, no place was out of reach. An ambitious nine month period of trial and error led to summers that helped develop my views of landform, stewardship, and natural beauty. While Forrest has changed hands since, the experiences and observations I made during my travels will forever influence my design theory and practice.
